Folic acid is converted into Dihydrofolate (DHF), Tetrahydrofolate (THF), and then finally into L-methylfolate (5 – MTHF) to be used in the body.
L – methylfolate together with antidepressants is more effective in improving depressive symptoms than antidepressant monotherapy and it results in symptomatic improvement more rapidly than SSRI/SNRI monotherapy.
